What is Soundfox?
An introduction to Soundfox and what it does.
Overview
Soundfox is a desktop voice-to-text app for macOS and Windows. It turns what you say into clean, polished writing in any application, with no plugins, copy-paste, or window switching to deal with. You press one hotkey, say what you want to write, and Soundfox handles the rest.
Whether you are writing an email, working on documentation, replying in Slack, or leaving a comment in your code editor, Soundfox drops the finished text right where your cursor is. In most cases this takes a second or two.
Key Capabilities
- One global hotkey that works in every app, with nothing to install per app.
- Real-time transcription with a live preview as you speak.
- Smart Polish, which removes filler words, fixes grammar, and tidies up your sentences.
- AI Enhance Mode, which turns rough dictation into finished emails, documents, and messages.
- App-aware context that adjusts the tone for you: formal in email, shorter in chat, more structured in documents.
- Custom personas, vocabulary, and text expansion templates.
- Vocabulary, settings, and history that sync across up to 5 devices.
- No audio stored by default. Privacy is built in from the start.
How It Works
Using Soundfox is a single, fluid action:
- 1Press your hotkey (⌘⇧Space on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+Space on Windows) while your cursor is anywhere you want to type.
- 2Speak naturally. A waveform indicator appears and your words stream in as live text.
- 3Press the hotkey again (or pause speaking) to finish. Soundfox cleans your text and inserts it at your cursor.
No copy-paste, no app-switching, no setup per application. If you can type there, Soundfox works there.
